After this Friday, October 31, the blog at Cinema Treasures will be on hiatus. The space may evolve into something different as its future is currently being discussed.

Thanks so much for your continued patronage and we will keep you posted on the next chapter of Cinema Treasures!

Are they getting ready to close this beloved site?
What is going on here?

Hello-

i am a tad confused. at the top of this page there are- Home,Theaters,Photos,Video, Blog and About. so is just the page denoted by “Blog” going on hiatus or is the entire wonderful site going puff?

The site will be the same. Michael is stepping away from the blog. No other changes to the site. :)

Will we still get news stories daily Ross? I am still waiting for a like button on comments like Facebook.

Ah a big sigh of relief when I heard it was just the blog going on hiatus, even though I enjoy that too. Please keep the main site substantially as it is, absolutely the best source on the web for news, historical material and photographs on the classic and not-so-classic movie theaters we loveā€¦and occasionally hate! I would truly hate to think of all that administrator and member provided material go down the drain!

OMG, don’t let the main site go ANYWHERE.

Thanks, and all best wishes, forever and ever! :)

maybe whomever buys Regal can get it’s act together and improve theaters in the chain to state of the art standards. 7.1 surround sound for starters; make every RPX screen feature Dolby Atmos sound.

as for this site – do this mean that no updates or ‘new’ theaters can be added???

Yup, Variety is now reporting that Regal Cinemas may be going up for sale:

There are no changes to the site other than the blog. All updates will continue as usual.

Ross, over the years, I have been noticing certain theaters have had missing comments. Its as if they were deleted (to make space?) or somehow ‘lost.’ I’ve emailed to the comments mailbox but have never received a response. Not one.

Maybe the updates will include short video uploads of favorite theaters? :)

Jodar, you may not be seeing the same things I’m seeing, but I think that the work of one particular once-prolific poster is gone from the site. I won’t speculate as to why.

Comments have not been deleted to make space. We’ve got plenty of that. And we don’t delete comments arbitrarily.

  1. I deleted many of my (argumentative) comments since they added no merit to the actual theatre pages. I’m much too old for pissing contests.

  2. Blog was always a good space to get the latest heads-up on theatres across the nation. Hate to see it go.

was the “add a theater” function taken down? I’m no longer seeing that feature

As someone who’s enjoyed posting here on CinemaTreasures.org for a long time, I’ve enjoyed the blog a great deal. Here’s hoping that it’s not going on a permanent hiatus.
